Charitable Giving

Our charity of choice is A Foundation for Kids.  Since 1999 DMA members have generously donated over $20,000,000 (twenty million dollars) worth of goods, services, food, cash and personal time. Click here to learn more about the good work of A Foundation for Kids. 

 

 Scholarships

The DMA supports several local junior colleges and universities. To date, the DMA has contributed over $100,000 to fully fund three endowments at Inland Empire junior colleges.  Click here to learn more about the various programs you can qualify for.

Charitable Giving

The mission and purpose for A Foundation for Kids, a 501 c-(3) organization is to raise funds and in kind support for children's homes and agencies that serve abused and troubled children in Southern California.

The focus of the organization is to provide support for abused and at risk children who are in out of home care including group homes and foster homes. The focus area includes all of Southern California with a particular focus upon, San Bernardino, Riverside, Los Angeles, and Orange Counties. Support includes use of product, toys, consultation and training, event production and specific fundraising activities. A Foundation For Kids touches the lives of severely abused and neglected children from Southern California by:

Supporting local children's agencies in the Inland Empire, Los Angeles & Orange Counties, each children's home is a residential care facility for abused children ages 6-17. The children's homes supported by the Foundation provide a residential treatment program, lodging, and counseling services for children.

A Foundation for Kids touches the lives of abused and at risk children from Southern California by:

  • Supporting local children's homes and agencies in the Inland Empire, Los Angeles and Orange Counties Each children's home is a residential care facility for abused children ages 6 - 17. The children's homes supported by the Foundation provide a residential treatment program, lodging, and counseling services for children.
  • Providing the following in-kind goods and services for over 35 children's homes and foster family agencies serving 20,000 children in the greater Southern California area including:
    • Non-Perishable Foods School and Office Supplies
    • Clothing and Footwear Personal Care Products
    • Sports and Recreation Equipment Furniture and Appliances
  • Providing gifts and holiday wishes to children at Christmas time and special holidays (Easter & Valentine's Day) through a region wide gift-giving program.
  • Hosting field trips for children's homes and agencies to local major league sporting events and attractions including Los Angeles Dodgers, Lakers & Angel games.
  • Awarding program and operating grants to children's homes.

Scholarships

The logistics industry remains a key factor for long-term economic prosperity in Southern California. The logistics industry creates opportunities for workers to increase their incomes with job experience and on-the-job learning. Since 2004, primarily through the DMA's annual Golf Tournament, the Distribution Management Association (DMA) has established and supported endowed logistics scholarships at three area community colleges that offer programs that lead to careers in the distribution/logistics/supply chain management industry.    



Scholarship Description
The DMA has established this endowed logistic scholarship with the purpose of encouraging students to pursue careers in logistics. Selected students receive scholarships in the amount of $500.  

Selection Criteria
One page essay stating academic and career aspirations in the industry.
Recommendation/Nomination by a professor
Minimum 2.0 GPA
Be currently enrolled in 9 or more units
Recipient must be taking Business classes.  
Preference is given to students pursuing a degree or certificate in Logistics Management.

Scholarship Description
To assist students who are seeking a career in the logistics field that would include warehouse workers, distribution and management. Students eligible for the scholarship would be enrolled full-time in the field or be enrolled part-time and working in the field. The scholarships are in the amount of $500 per selected student and would follow the financial policy established by the SBVC Foundation Board.

Selection Criteria
The student's major must be Warehouse/Logistics/Transportation
A minimum grade point average of 2.0
The recipient should be selected by the SBVC Department Committee
If the scholarship is not claimed, the award should be returned to the fund for the following semester/year.
The student should explain the benefit of volunteering in the community in the one page letter outlining their logistics industry career objectives.

Scholarship Description
The DMA, along with a number of partner agencies are working with local colleges and universities, including RCC, to encourage and develop logistics based education programs for students. Selected students receive $500 scholarships.  

Selection Criteria
One page essay stating academic and career aspirations in the industry.
Any special circumstances warranting consideration may be included.
2.5 GPA.
Be currently enrolled in 9 or more units of RCC coursework.
Recipient must be currently enrolled in Transportation, Logistics or Supply Chain (Business 80-89) courses.
