Emission Restrictions Affecting Equipment in California

Commercial Diesel Trucks built prior to 2009 no longer meet California emission standards.Roush's Cleantech Division partners directly with Ford Truck Engineering, retrofitting F Series gasoline engines with Roush alternative fuel technology.  Ford sends medium duty trucks, to be fit with Roush propane fuel systems at their facilities in Libonia, MI and High Point, NC.  While propane fuel requires different delivery components, the motor remains relatively the same, making this an efficient, economical alternative to comply with today's CA regulations.  Roush changes up to 15 trucks per day at both their facilities.

Roush Cleantech presentation by Dylan Kyle will include:

  • Features and characteristics of the propane powered chassis
  • Purpose-built engines with hardened components from OEM partners, maintaining identical performance as traditional fuel operation
  • Installation and maintenance, locations, and medium duty size options
  • New technologies allowing for dedicated liquid fuel systems, “Near-Zero” emissions ratings, CARB and EPA Certified, no aftertreatment, and OEM warranty maintained.

Discuss emission restrictions affecting equipment in California.

  • Equipment specifications and capabilities, such as components of a propane fuel system, required inspections, preventative maintenance, safety equipment, range.
  • How many propane trucks are on the road today, applications, and duty cycle expectations.
  • Where and how these trucks are refueled and serviced.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the basic features and characteristics of a propane powered, medium duty chassis.
  • Recognize where propane powered, medium duty chassis are applicable within my fleet.
  • Understand the advantages of propane powered, medium duty chassis.
  • Roush application only applies to Medium Duty Trucks Class 4 - 7  (Class 7 is a Ford F750)
